If you have any teeth missing, it can create difficulties for you. These can include issues with eating and talking, and it can even cause your surrounding teeth to grow into the space.
The best solution is to replace your missing teeth with false teeth, or “dentures”.
Dentures are prosthetic teeth that can come as a full set, for all upper or lower teeth (if they need to be removed), or as partial dentures (if you have only one, two or several teeth missing) to clip on to your natural teeth.
Whatever gaps you may have, a set of dentures will fill them in nicely. Not only will they improve your lifestyle, but they will work wonders to improve your smile.
First we need to take measurements of your mouth and make a mould to get the shape just right. We will then have a trial denture made and check that it’s the right fit, including the shape and the colour. If all looks good and we’ve made any necessary adjustments, we will then make the final finished product, and you’re good to go!
Our dentures are usually made from the standard acrylic, but we can offer more flexible dentures or even a metal option.
When you start wearing new dentures, you should treat them gently to start with. Eat soft foods in small pieces and chew them slowly, and avoid chewing gum. Over time, you can gradually return to your old diet.
Your dentures will need cleaning as often as your normal teeth (twice a day). This includes brushing them and soaking them in a cleaning solution.
You should also see a dentist regularly to check for any problems with your dentures. They may wear out with time, or your gums may shrink so the dentures no longer fit. But if you look after your dentures, they can last for years!
Be sure to see a dentist immediately if your dentures start to feel uncomfortable, no longer fit properly, or click when you talk. (You must also watch out for gum disease.)
New dentures are an NHS Band 3 dental treatment. Our private price for chrome dentures starts at £900.
